I just made gluten free bagels. I have never made any bagel before today. I have always assumed that they were too difficult. Well, my new favorite gluten free bagels take 10 minutes to prepare and 12 minutes in the Power AirFryer XL. What a wonderful recipe. It is as easy as making pancakes and you get something different. When was the last time you had a great gluten free bagel and when was the last time it was homemade?
Ingredients
2 Cups Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Flour
4 Tsp Baking Powder
1 ½ Tsp Salt
1 egg plus 1 egg white
2 Cups Greek yogurt
Dehydrated herbs and spices for sprinkling
(I used dehydrated onion, sea salt, and sesame seeds)
STEP – 1
Measure flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl and set aside
STEP – 2
Whisk egg and add yogurt. Mix well with a whisk.
STEP – 3
Pour flour mixture into yogurt mix. Mix again with a whisk.
STEP – 4
Flour board or counter. Kneed a few times. The dough will be very, very soft. Don’t add too much flour. You do not want dry bagels.
STEP – 5
Form bagels into the classic round shape. Place on Silpat sheet while you are waiting to pop it into your AirFryer
STEP – 6
Brush tops lightly with egg wash and sprinkles with spices
STEP – 7
Set Power Air Fryer XL to 330 degrees and cook for 12 minutes.
(This dough does not roll like playdough. I formed it by making it a bar shape. Keep turning to keep the form proportional. After 1-4 you will get it. Keep trying!)
When I put these into the Power AirFryer I had no faith that they would turn out. Yogurt and flour? Trust me. They are wonderful!
The insides are gooey. They are hard to cut in half, but I just broke off pieces, pulled it apart, and added butter for every bite. You can eat them right out of the AirFryer or wait till later in the day to toast them Again they are difficult to cut in half.
Momsypoo’s learning curve
My sister-in-law sent me a recipe that she found online the other day. She said she wanted to see how they turned out before she tried to make them. I guess I’m the family guinea pig now. LOL
She said that she found the recipe on skinnytaste.com. I used less egg, and I have doubled the recipe. Who wants just 4 bagels?
Enjoy! Let me know,
